DEE TSCHIDA (916-684-4802)
Dee Tschida was born in the San Joaquin Valley and her works reflect the images, colors
and emotions of the vast California topography. She enjoys plein-air painting to absorb
the freshness of the air, but prefers responding to the environment in abstract representations
with attention to design. Her works explore the textural qualities and unexpected merging
of colors over various surfaces that mixed media produce. She has won awards in local art
exhibitions and shown her work in Sacramento galleries and is represented in private collections.

JOANNA BATHERSON, www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/j/joannaart/
I have always been inspired by the beauty of nature. Drawing and painting have given me
this opportunity while teaching children about nature and through my travels in the United States,
Canada, and abroad. Moving to beautiful California has opened another door to art for me.
Please contact me at 916-395-9884 or bathersonjd@aol.com.

JOHN S. PAUL (916-689-5527)
I
have been oil painting for several years, but did not start showing until
I joined Elk Grove Artists a few years ago. My technique is very traditional,
using successive layers of thin paint to build up the color and form. This
method of painting goes back to the Dutch and Flemish landscape painters
of the seventeenth century. Much of my subject matter is the local rural
landscape around Elk Grove and South Sacramento. With the rapid development of this
area, this scenery is rapidly disappearing.

CHERYL GRIESS (916-685-3698)
I have been playing and experimenting with different art media most of my adult life.
I’ve created artwork using oils, batiks, intaglio and monotype printmaking, acrylics, watercolors,
pastels, mixed media, clay, fiber/weaving and digital media. Currently, I’m working with acrylics,
watercolors and mixed media. I seem to be drawn to and enjoy creating impressionist and
abstract artwork.

BEVERLY BENNETT (916-685-7191)
Since early childhood I have enjoyed drawing. I have done some work in colored pencil and pastel, but I am mainly a watercolor artist. I have been painting for the last five years and enjoy painting flowers and landscapes. Over the last three years I have taken art classes in Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, and Auburn. My work has shown locally with the Elk Grove Artists and in local businesses.

JANIS SPENCER BUCK, 916-684-5654, buckjanis@hotmail.com
I was born in 1941 in Oroville, California. Art has been in my life ever since I can remember. I began drawing as a very small child. I have been oil painting off and on for 40 years, using the camera since I was 12. Life got in the way many times, but now that I am retired, I am focusing my efforts on oil painting, pastel and photography/digital art. I hold two college Certificates for Photography, wedding, portrait,
and glamour, and continue to take art classes at CRC.

ILA LEWIS (916) 391-8485
I have had many passions over the years and always a desire to do something artistic, something from my heart. I find beading fascinating; especially when putting creative combinations together. Sometimes a piece comes out just as I imagined, other times it’s quite different and I like it even more. I love the texture, colors and patterns in beads. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, no two are alike. I create as I string each bead.
I’ve lived in Elk Grove for almost 30 years. I’m proud to display and sell my jewelry at local businesses.

BETTY WARMDAHL, (916) 686-5318, bgwart@surewest.net
Part of the creative process for me is being willing to experiment with different mediums
including watercolor, acrylics and collage. My greatest challenge has been learning to “loosen up”, so with a desire to use bright and bold colors, my joyful and whimsical paintings have happened. With spontaneous playing and exploring new techniques, who knows what will evolve!

I enjoy trying to
capture the Magical Lights and Colors of nature. The light truly inspires me.
I love dancing shadows; reflections and all colorful light filled things. My art
reflects the Delta, local areas and wine. I started painting a little when I
was 11 and then majored in Fine Art in college. Then in 2001 quit my corporate
job to pursue my art. I’m in three galleries; teach and do many art shows.

JANE BRESLIN
(916) 682-6927
About 15 years ago, my then
teenage son began painting and I caught the excitement of painting in oils. I
love to paint scenery and still life. Color effects are fascinating as they
promote different feelings, put together with the shapes of nature. You
can create a wonderful experience.

DEBORAH MORGAN
(209 625-7852),
deborahmorgan@softcom.net
Art is “creativity of man as distinguished from the world of nature; making things that display form, beauty and unusual perception.” The base of art, *ar, means to join together. A great deal of my time is spent trying to find a relationship between nature and my imagination. I obsessively scan my surroundings as if my eyes were the lens of a camera, continually gathering emotional feedback from nature, its textures and proportions.
My paintings are direct and intentional as is my personality. I consider myself a multidimensional artist and am comfortable with several mediums.

STACY MAEDA
www.stacymaeda.elkgrove.net
Stacy works primarily in oils and graphite pencil/charcoal. While she takes great pains to ensure that her detailed drawings and paintings of animals are anatomically accurate, Stacy is adamant that her artwork must also capture the animal's individual spirit and personality. Stacy earned a degree in Studio Art from the University of California at Davis, but considers herself primarily a self-taught artist.
KATHERINE PLUMER (916-687-7385),
www.katherineplumer.com
Katherine Plumer, who lives in Wilton, California, has been working full-time as an artist and illustrator since receiving her BA in Art from UC Davis in 2001. Her interest is animal portraits—achieving not only a visual likeness, but also capturing the personality unique to each animal. She attends a few art shows throughout the year, but mostly works at creating more original art. She is a fan of colored pencils and graphite,
but also does some
printmaking work, and recently has tried a little painting every now and then too.
MICHAEL GILL,
www.MGill Studio.com
MGill is a native of Sacramento and has worked in Acrylics, Printmaking, Oils and Digital Media.
A graduate of the University of California, Riverside, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and a
Bachelor’s in Ethnic Studies. As a traditionally trained painter recent works utilize formal
training in conjunction with digital media. The work tends to be a simplified abstraction of
shape and form mindful of color. All current work is produced as limited edition prints on
archival papers/canvas.
TERESA STEINBACH-GARCIA,(916-687-8908)
Teresa Steinbach-Garcia is a graduate of the program in graphics design at UC Davis.
