DEE TSCHIDA (916-684-4802) www.dtschida.com/home.html Dee Tschida was born in the San Joaquin Valley and her works reflect the images, colors
and emotions of the vast California topography. She enjoys plein-air painting to absorb
the freshness of the air, but prefers responding to the environment in abstract representations
with attention to design. Her works explore the textural qualities and unexpected merging
of colors over various surfaces that mixed media produce. She has won awards in local art
exhibitions and shown her work in Sacramento galleries and is represented in private collections.
JOANNA BATHERSON, www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/j/joannaart/ I have always been inspired by the beauty of nature. Drawing and painting have given me
this opportunity while teaching children about nature and through my travels in the United States,
Canada, and abroad. Moving to beautiful California has opened another door to art for me.

JOHN S. PAUL (916-689-5527) I have been oil painting for several years, but did not start showing until
I joined Elk Grove Artists a few years ago. My technique is very traditional,
using successive layers of thin paint to build up the color and form. This
method of painting goes back to the Dutch and Flemish landscape painters
of the seventeenth century. Much of my subject matter is the local rural
landscape around Elk Grove and South Sacramento. With the rapid development of this
area, this scenery is rapidly disappearing.
CHERYL GRIESS (916-685-3698)
I have been playing and experimenting with different art media most of my adult life. I’ve created artwork using oils, batiks, intaglio and monotype printmaking, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, mixed media, clay, fiber/weaving and digital media. Currently, I’m working with acrylics, watercolors and mixed media. I seem to be drawn to and enjoy creating impressionist and abstract artwork.
BEVERLY BENNETT (916-685-7191)
Since early childhood I have enjoyed drawing. I have done some work in colored pencil and pastel, but I am mainly a watercolor artist. I have been painting for the last five years and enjoy painting flowers and landscapes. Over the last three years I have taken art classes in Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, and Auburn. My work has shown locally with the Elk Grove Artists and in local businesses.
BETTY WARMDAHL, (916) 686-5318,bgwart@surewest.net
Part of the creative process for me is being willing to experiment with different mediums including watercolor, acrylics and collage. My greatest challenge has been learning to “loosen up”, so with a desire to use bright and bold colors, my joyful and whimsical paintings have happened. With spontaneous playing and exploring new techniques, who knows what will evolve!
PATRICIA WILLIAMS (916) 684-8885 or (916) 296-0485 www.patriciawilliamsart.com
I enjoy trying to capture the Magical Lights and Colors of nature. The light truly inspires me. I love dancing shadows; reflections and all colorful light filled things. My art reflects the Delta, local areas and wine. I started painting a little when I was 11 and then majored in Fine Art in college. Then in 2001 quit my corporate job to pursue my art. I’m in three galleries; teach and do many art shows. Please visit my website.
JANE BRESLIN (916) 682-6927
About 15 years ago, my then teenage son began painting and I caught the excitement of painting in oils. I love to paint scenery and still life. Color effects are fascinating as they promote different feelings, put together with the shapes of nature. You can create a wonderful experience.

ARLENE PALMER, 916-688-3762,artist0823@yahoo.com My love for nature has influenced my need to capture it's beauty. I have studied the theory of color and have learned how to duplicate it in my work. My subject matter is varied and includes still life, florals, landscapes, and seascapes. I love a challenge and get excited when I get a commission for a subject that I've never painted before. Every painting is a new learning experience. I use a combination of pallette knife and brush to achieve the results I want in my artwork. As an artist I hope to bring joy to others through my paintings.
CYNTHIA HOBSON, 916-684-3367, mssaphire@citlink.net
Cynthia Hobson works mainly in acrylic, charcoal and pastels. She does some water colors and oils too. Cynthia feels her style is “realistic”, and her work comes from spiritual, inspirations, and from external interests. She seeks to tell a story or give a message with her art whether the subjects are people, animals, a landscape or still life. She wants you to enjoy and understand her art without having to ponder too much about it.

I first noticed gourds on a trip to Peru where I was fascinated by the intricate carving the artists did on small gourds. Since then I have become hooked on gourds. I love to grow them, look at them and make art on them. I have exhibited my gourds in galleries from Amador to Mendocino. My favorite techniques are wood burning and carving. All of the gourds I use are grown in my garden in Sacramento.
MICHAEL FITZWATER, www.MichaelFitzwater.com, michael@michaelfitzwater.com
I am not one for flowery prose or metaphysical statements about my art. Many times when I go out to capture photographs I may only have a vague idea of what I am looking for. I will generally let the light, my mood and the environment guide my way. Even when I have a specific goal in mind I am sometimes surprised at what I find and often times will be completely sidetracked by something else that has caught my eye. As for any meaning in my photographs, I prefer that the viewer find their own connection with my art. I can only hope that you, the viewer, will find something in my art that is pleasing to your eye and comforting to your soul.
RUSSELL FRANK, russell.frank@frontiernet.net Russell Frank was born in Bakersfield, California. He attended Bakersfield High School, Bakersfield College and Cal State Northridge where he majored in Art, Ceramics and Woodworking. Russell began his unique style of pastel drawings in 1968. He began his own hand thrown pottery business in 1973 and has made many pieces of fine furniture and cabinets. Northern California and Africa provide an abundant resource of material for his pastel drawings of wildlife and waterfowl. The drawings are done in soft pastel. It takes approximately one hour per square inch to produce the realism that he looks for in his work.
