ABOUT THE EGA
Elk Grove Artists (EGA) is a non-profit, tax-exempt, visual arts organization made up of local artists and art supporters/patrons near Sacramento, California. EGA has been in existence for more than 20 years. Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, including local art teachers and award-winning artists, as well as those for whom art is a passionate hobby. Some members have art school training and some have come to discover their artistic talents later in life. The group features a range of abilities and also a range of artistic media. Oil, watercolor and acrylic painting, digital and film photography, ceramics, sculpture, and glass work can all be found in the members' studios. In addition, the artists address a broad array of subject matter from portraits, landscapes, abstractions, and local landmarks.
MONTHLY MEETINGS We meet the fourth Wednesday in January through October and the third Wednesday in November in the Stockman’s Bank Community Room. The Community Room is located at 9275 East Stockton Blvd., Suite 100, in the Jessie Wright Suites building (south of Bond Road). We meet for lectures, demonstrations of various media and art techniques, gallery tours, workshops, and outdoor paint-outs. A nominal fee of $5.00 is charged to non-members to cover speaker's fees at educational meetings. A list of exciting monthly meeting topics is contained on the "Monthly Meetings" webpage. Pictures from some past meetings and other activities are found on the "Past EGA Events" webpage.
HIGH SCHOOL ART PROGRAM AND
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Every year, the EGA has various fundraisers to raise scholarship money for local high school students who are planning to major or minor in visual arts programs in
college. In 2006 and 2007, the EGA put on a successful city-wide art contest for high school
art contest entrants, in addition to scholarship awards. In
March 2008, a Framing workshop was held for students
entering two-dimensional work and three-dimensional
pieces were collected.
The public is invited to see the
fruits of these artistic labors in a juried art show on
May 3rd and May 4th at the Western Festival in the
Pavilian Elk Grove Park. See
information about past scholarship winners on our Scholarship Page.

EGA NEWSLETTER The quarterly newsletter provides a wonderful resource that recaps EGA meetings, lists upcoming art fundraisers, competitions and shows, assists the buying and selling of art equipment and goods, profiles our members and reports on the art world in the northern California area. If you have items of interest for an upcoming newsletter (e.g., articles, book reviews, upcoming art shows, equipment for sale or purchase), please contact the Newsletter Editor (see the EGA Officers section below).
JOINING THE EGA
Why join EGA? There are a number of benefits to joining the EGA.
Our main focus is to give local artists an opportunity to become involved in local events and fundraisers that promote and enlighten the community-at-large regarding the visual arts. Other benefits are exhibition opportunities, art demonstrations, trips to exhibits, opportunity to take part in 'Plein-Air" painting groups throughout the Sacramento Valley area, and the opportunity to meet other artists in the Elk Grove area. Our primary goal is to offer a wide-range of programs for practicing artists and the general public. Our long-range goal is to have a permanent art center or co-op in Elk Grove where the community can participate in the enjoyment of art exhibitions, sales, and art classes at all levels. If you are interested in joining the EGA, click on the "Join EGA" webpage for more information.
